I am not sure what stitches to knit together, and which side I need the right and left slanting decreases is my question!

I'm doing a sock. I am to the toe and the directions just say do what you want, but decrease every round for 5 rounds and then every round after that until there are 10 stitches left.

And I'm not sure what to do. I'm doing it on two circs. The first has 42 stitches in a 2x2 rib (this is the top of the sock). The other needle has 35 stitches all in stockinette.

I'm saying the sock will go on my right foot and I did the decrease as a ktog on the side by the big toe and a ssk on the pinky toe side. I did them on the last two stitches of the stockinette side. (I hope this makes sense)

I did 10 rows of this and it looked funny. The bottom part of the foot was getting smaller. Unfortunatly I undid it before thinking about taking a picture. I am not sure how to explain it but it just didn't look right.

So I'm here hoping that somebody has done a sock that is something like that and could help me out alot on the toe with which stitches to do the decreases on and which decreases to use!

Thank you so much. I hope it makes sense, I'm awful at explaining things :p

Hello.

I've been a member for a few months, but this is my very first time posting.
I became the proud owner of an Enchanted Petal in Jan. I named her Aries. She is darling and I love her to bits.
Her being my very first dollie I had a few questions that I hoped you all could help me out with.
Her hair is really coarse and I think needs a good washing or brushing.
Any ideas or thoughts on how to go about washing it?
She is still using her stock clothes and I really really need to find her some afordable/cheap cute things.
I read some place that you can use Bratz and Barbie clothes on them?
I also heard these may stain her which I really don't want happening so do I just wash them and she will be safe?
Thank you so much for all your time. So this isn't just a post filled with questions I wanted to share some photographs I have taken of her.
Thank you again.

It's taken weeks of losing and putting back on, losing and then putting back on again, but I think I'm finally back on track. I've been doing the plan for nearly two years now and I'm dead chuffed to be able to say that I'm finally more than half way to my target!

The weather helps I think. I've been making up big tubs full of sugar free jelly (traffic light jelly like my gran used to make for me when I was little! :D) and buying snack sized chocolate bars and keeping a mix of different goodies in the fridge for when I've got syns left at the end of the day- a good incentive I find! I'm a bugger for using my syns on sauces and savory food to go with my meals like chicken or fish in breadcrumbs, so knowing there's chocolate in the fridge and that I can only have it if I've got syns left over is encouraging me to eat more free food (sweetcorn done on the barbie on a green day!).

And talking of free food! Does anybody have any ideas of what I can do with chilli's? I love my spicey food but I've no idea what to do with them (besides adding them to mash potato with a bit of cheese- mmm!)

Andrea x

Edit: Also, I found out recently the joys of McCains rustic chips (1syn per 100g). For some reason I just can't do Slimming World chips without ending up with a tray full of semi-crunchy potato mush instead of something that resembles a chip, so these are going to be such a big help for me!

Introductory post

Hello all! I just joined the community and thought I'd say hi. I started knitting this spring as a way to keep sane while planning a wedding, and have finished two projects so far. The first was a cabled scarf that I should never have done because it included taking a throw pattern and altering it into a scarf. I survived that project and am currently working on a baby blanket for my new sister in law.

Anyway, onto my issue. At the beginning of the blanket are some small holes that came about by random increases/decreases/dropped stitches/kitten-helping. They are too far in for me to undo and reknit the beginning, but I would like to fix them. Any ideas?

Help!

I think I am missing something really, really simple here, but I'm going mad trying to figure it out!

I'm trying to knit a small lace motif, with the following pattern:

Row 1: Knit 10, Purl 2, Knit 10
(I'm following a chart, so there's no row 2, but I was told to knit it like stockinette...so Purl 10, Knit 2, Purl 10)
Row 3: (from left to right) Knit 6, 'slip 1 knitwise, K2 tog, pass slipped stitch over', yarn over, knit 1, yarn over, purl 2, yarn over, knit 1, yarn over, K3tog, knit 6

The person who showed me the pattern showed it me knitting right to left, not right to left, so I have 10 stitches before the 2 purls, 3 of which I knit together...and rapidly run out of stitches!

Am I missing something really simple?

All help gratefully received!

Changing colors and helllllp.....please!

I've been afraid of the dreaded color change in knitting. Today a light bulb went on and I decided to test making a simple wristand with a black border. All went well for the first part (see here):

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v244/jyotibab/Knitting%20Projects/P1020799.jpg

However, when I came to the end and it was time to add the other black border, it ended up looking like the inside of the first one, like this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v244/jyotibab/Knitting%20Projects/P1020800.jpg

I couldn't figure out why so I ripped it out and then had the genius idea that if I turned the work inside out and knitted it, it would look right. But it still looked the same. What am I doing wrong? In case it's not clear from the photos, the border is ribbed and the body stockinette.

Any help would be appreciated, as I feel like quite a dolt. *scratches head*

Seriously Novice Knitting Issue, Help to Diagnose Please?

I am so very brand-spanking new to knitting and I am working on my first pattern pieces that required color switches. It went fine at first but then one of my switches from row to row put a tiny, unintentional lighter stripe in a body of a darker color, and it's REALLY noticeable.

Pics behind the cut, please look if you think you might be able to tell me what I've done wrong. Thanks so much in advance. )

ETA: Problem has been diagnosed and remedied! Thanks, and the answer is summarized very well in the comments in case anyone else needs or wants to know what to do if this happens to them.

just showing her off really...

I hope that is ok with you ladies.
I sent her off to the amazing Leo, to get her face matted, some new lips and change 2 sets of eye chips. He did such a wonderful job :). I wish i had such talent.
I found someone to make me my Slytherin uniform for her. This lady did an amazing job.
So anyway here is my Esk (EP) all new.

Help finding a pattern

I have a nice summery dress with narrow straps and a V decolletage, but it is, well, a bit too revealing to wear as-is in the office (or anywhere else for that matter :)

So i figured I'd knit a shrug/bolero/thing. Basically, a short sleeved lace top that will cover my bosom. Not a scarf since it'll have to not look ridiculous in an office.

I've looked on Ravelry, I've looked on Drops Design, I've googled, and I've looked through my fav books, but I can't find anything I like - they are all too little lace, or scarves, or long-sleeved, or not especially flattering, or...

So - has anyone got any tips either for a pattern, a web site or a book?

/desperate.
